Holmen Paper has commissioned Voith to deliver two OnQ quality control systems.

Holmen puts its trust in Voith: Two new quality control systems will ensure efficient production and high quality

In order to increase the competitiveness of its existing PM 51 and PM 53 paper machines even further, Holmen Paper has commissioned Voith to deliver two OnQ quality control systems. The crucial factors for the conversion of the existing automation technology to an OnQ quality control system are the robustness of the Voith LSC scanner and the innovative sensors, and this combination can be expected to give the lowest total cost of ownership (TCO) of the equipment.

Along with the standard sensors for measuring basis weight, moisture, and ash content, the package also includes the 100% non-contacting caliper sensor Voith LSC QuantumSens and a Voith LSC color sensor. In addition, the new Voith color control will now be used on both machines in order to achieve uniform color quality along with high profile quality. The existing steam box and the re-moisturizer will be completely integrated into the OnQ quality control system. The deep integration in the existing PCS7 platform results in excellent consistency, efficient operation, and simple engineering.

In addition, Holmen Paper appreciates having an automation partner like Voith, which, along with sophisticated automation technology, also has an extensive and deep understanding of processes which is nurtured by the Voith complete production line.

In the highly competitive European newsprint paper market, Holmen Paper AB in Braviken impresses with its efficient production and high paper quality. 180,000 metric tons of white and colored directory paper and light newsprint grades are produced annually on the PM 51. Up to 300,000 metric tons of newsprint paper are manufactured on the 8,900 mm-wide PM 53.
